OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 05/30/2026, officers with the Fraser Department of Public Safety responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence in the 17000 block of Breezeway in Fraser, Michigan. Officers encountered 15 year old Ayden Gould inside the residence. Under circumstances that have not been fully disclosed by authorities, an officer opened fire and struck Gould. He was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The officer involved was placed on administrative leave. The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation.

On June 1, 2026, Fraser officials released additional information stating that preliminary findings indicated Gould had a knife during the incident. Police stated that officers deployed Tasers before the shooting. Authorities have not released body camera footage or a detailed account of the events immediately preceding the shooting.

Family members disputed the police response and stated that Gould was experiencing a severe mental health crisis. In a public fundraiser, his family wrote that he had already harmed himself and argued that he needed medical and mental health intervention rather than a police response. The fundraiser described him as a loved and cared for teenager and called for accountability and further investigation into the shooting.
