On January 9, 2026, at approximately 6:20 p.m., firefighters and park rangers responded to reports of a vehicle fire along Natchez Trace Road near Lovell Trail at Natchez Trace State Park. During the response, the driver, later identified as 26-year-old Bradley David Kondor, took possession of a ranger’s vehicle and fled the scene. Park rangers located Kondor and the stolen vehicle about a mile away near Shiloh Trail. According to preliminary information released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Kondor then attempted to drive a second stolen state vehicle toward law enforcement. A park ranger discharged a firearm, striking Kondor. Kondor died at the location. No law enforcement officers were injured. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent inquiry at the request of the local district attorney general, including evidence collection and witness interviews.
