OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 01/21/2026, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the 800 block of Hay Meadow Drive for a domestic disturbance involving a firearm. Deputies reported that a man inside the home made threats toward law enforcement and refused commands to exit. The Richmond County SWAT team responded and established a perimeter. Deputies negotiated with the individual for more than an hour. During the standoff, deputies heard a gunshot from inside the residence. SWAT officers entered the home and located the man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He died at the location. Law enforcement did not report discharging firearms during the incident. Authorities have not publicly released the man’s name or age.
