OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY : On 01/31/2026 at approximately 5:51 p.m., the Frankfort Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported “shots fired” call at a residence on Ridgeview Drive in Franklin County. Kentucky State Police’s Critical Incident Response Team was called to investigate the officer-involved shooting. According to Kentucky State Police, officers encountered 56-year-old Bryan Radford of Hopkinsville at the home. Radford reportedly entered the residence and then reemerged armed with a handgun. Police said officers discharged their agency-issued weapons, fatally striking Radford. First aid was attempted, but he died from gunshot injuries. No officers were reported injured. The Kentucky State Police investigation into the shooting was ongoing, and no officer names had been released in public records at the time of reporting.
