On 02/27/2026, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report involving a woman in distress on New Hope Road near Grizzly Slough. Officers made contact with a man at the location. Officials said the man pulled out a shotgun and did not comply with deputies’ commands to drop it. A Sacramento County deputy fired their weapon, fatally shooting the man. The deputy was reported safe. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting and additional details are being gathered.
