On 02/24/2026, officers from the Rialto Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations. Police initiated a pursuit when the vehicle failed to stop and speeds reached approximately 70–100 mph. During the chase, the fleeing vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Pepper Avenue and struck the vehicle driven by Marcus Loring. Loring died from injuries sustained in the crash after being transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton. Officers arrested the driver of the fleeing vehicle on charges including felony evading resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
