On 03/03/2026, St. Paul police identified a vehicle reported stolen from Minneapolis and followed it through the city. Police attempted a traffic stop near Interstate 94 and Highway 280 and the driver continued driving. A Ramsey County sheriff’s deputy responding to assist with lights and sirens activated drove into the intersection of East 12th Street and Robert Street and struck a Toyota RAV4 driven by Tha Wah. Wah died at a hospital. A woman passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and a 4-year-old passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers later stopped the stolen vehicle with a PIT maneuver and arrested a 27-year-old man.
