On 02/27/2026, Wichita police responded to reports that a 19-year-old man shot his former girlfriend and then drove after her vehicle at high speed. Officers located the vehicle and chased him through Wichita streets. During the pursuit, police said he rammed the woman’s vehicle and fired additional rounds before continuing to drive at high speed. The pursuit ended on East Kellogg Drive near Webb Road when his vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole. He died from injuries sustained in the crash. The woman he shot was hospitalized in critical condition and later stabilized; a passenger in her vehicle was not injured.
