On 03/04/2026, Kanawha County deputies located a stolen Jeep and began chasing it through multiple roads at speeds reported up to 120 mph before it entered Interstate 64. Police deployed spike strips during the pursuit. Police said the driver continued at high speed and crashed into Angela Born’s vehicle from behind, killing her. Born, 52, was a longtime Kanawha County resident known locally for operating a strawberry farm and a small bed-and-breakfast near Clendenin and was the mother of six. Reporting described her as widely known in the community through her farm and hospitality work and said she had simply been driving when she was struck during the chase. Authorities later charged the fleeing driver in connection with her death.
