On 03/05/2026, Buffalo police responded shortly before 11:00 p.m. to a mental health crisis call on the 100 block of Minnesota Avenue. The situation escalated when the man held three people at knifepoint and threatened first responders and a neighbor. Officers arrived around 10:55 p.m. and ordered him to drop the knives. Police said one officer deployed a Taser and another opened fire, striking him. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he died. Authorities have not released his name. The New York Attorney General’s Office and Buffalo police are investigating the shooting.
