OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 03/04/2026, an Ashburn police officer conducted a traffic stop near 923 North Street after observing two children standing inside a vehicle unsecured in child restraint seats. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the driver, identified as Kabrion Young, ran from the officer and fought with him before being tased and arrested. Officers then ordered passenger Larunce Glee, 25, of Cordele, to exit the vehicle. Investigators said Glee refused and fought with officers. During the struggle, authorities said Glee attempted to pull a firearm from his waistband, and an officer opened fire, striking him. Glee was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center, where he died. Three additional passengers including two children who were standing in car seats witnessed the fatal shooting. The GBI is investigating and will submit its findings to the district attorney for review.
