On 03/04/2026, St. Louis police responded to a Red Roof Inn at 5823 Wilson Avenue after a woman reported being shot inside a room. Officers found a man with a gun inside and established a perimeter while attempting to communicate with him. Police said the 46-year-old man refused commands to surrender during the standoff. During the encounter, the man shot himself. Officers then entered the room and found him dead. A second man with a gunshot wound was taken to a hospital and survived. Authorities have not released the deceased man’s name. Investigators said the shooting inside the room stemmed from a dispute among acquaintances.
