OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/08/2026, deputies investigating a stolen vehicle used GPS tracking to follow the truck across Bulloch County into Bryan County. Police said the vehicle had been taken after a motorist stopped to help a man who said he had run out of gas near Nevils; while the driver went to get a gas can, the man drove away in the truck. Deputies later saw a man identified as Anthony Andrea Forney leaving a driveway in a gray Toyota Camry and police began a pursuit. During the chase, the vehicle ran off the roadway into a ditch and overturned. Officers found Forney inside with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While deputies searched the nearby residence, they found Kenneth C. “Craig” Lanier and Rhonda Lanier inside the home with fatal gunshot wounds. Authorities are continuing to investigate.
