OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 03/09/2026, officers with the Texas Attorney General’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Harris County Precinct 7 Constable’s Office went to 6003 Belarbor Street to serve a warrant tied to a parole violation. Houston police said Kojuan Miles, 36, had 2 weapons after officers announced themselves, and officers moved to cover and requested HPD SWAT. Negotiators spoke with him for more than an hour. Police said Miles later opened the front door and pointed a rifle toward officers. An HPD officer fired, Miles went back inside, then fired at least one shot at the officer, and the officer returned fire, killing him. HPD later identified the shooter as Officer R. Saini of the Tactical Operations Division, sworn in January 2010. The case is being investigated by HPD Special Investigations, Internal Affairs, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
