Benjamin Randall Collins
Age :26
Gender :Male
Race : White
Date : 08/13/2026
Location : Interstate 35 southbound upper deck near East 41st Street
City : Austin
County : Travis
State : Texas
Agency : Texas Department of Public Safety
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police following pursuit of stolen ambulance
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/13/2026, Benjamin Randall Collins was shot and killed by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper on the southbound upper deck of Interstate 35 in Austin following a police pursuit of a stolen Fort Worth Fire Department ambulance.
The ambulance had been stolen from Fort Worth Fire Department Station 4 at 2954 Old Mansfield Road in Fort Worth. The theft occurred before the ambulance was driven approximately 180 miles south toward the Austin area.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., Texas DPS was notified that the stolen ambulance was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 through Williamson County. Troopers located the ambulance and attempted to stop it by activating their emergency equipment. The driver continued south while DPS pursued him toward Austin.
According to DPS Sgt. Jason Galaviz, as the ambulance reached the area of Interstate 35 and U.S. 290, the driver allegedly began intentionally striking civilian vehicles with the ambulance.
DPS troopers attempted multiple PIT maneuvers against the ambulance but were unable to stop it. The ambulance continued southbound on Interstate 35 and entered the elevated southbound lanes through Central Austin.
At least one civilian was injured in a collision during the incident and was transported to a hospital with injuries reported as non-life-threatening.
The pursuit continued onto the southbound upper deck of Interstate 35 near East 41st Street. A Texas DPS trooper then fired at the driver of the ambulance, striking him. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The publicly reported justification for police efforts to stop the ambulance centered on the stolen emergency vehicle, the driver's continued flight, the collisions with civilian vehicles and the unsuccessful PIT maneuvers.
The fatal shooting brought the pursuit to an end on the I-35 upper deck. The incident resulted in extensive southbound highway closures while investigators processed the scene. Both the upper and lower southbound decks were initially affected, creating major traffic disruption through Central Austin.
As of 08/14/2026, authorities had not publicly released the identity of the DPS trooper who shot him.

Jeffrey Peters
Age :59
Gender :Male
Race : White
Date : 08/12/2026
Location : Nicolet Avenue near 75th Avenue and Glendale Avenue
City : Glendale
County : Maricopa
State : Arizona
Agency : Glendale Police Department
Officer(s) : Not disclosed
Cause of Death : Suicide
Event : Suicide under police duress
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/12/2026, a 59-year-old man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a residence near 75th and Glendale avenues in Glendale after an hours-long armed barricade during which police alleged that he repeatedly fired a rifle at officers, police vehicles and drones. Available reporting indicates that police did not shoot him. He was ultimately found dead inside the residence after police sent a drone into the home.
.
The encounter began after the man's daughter contacted police and reported seeing her father at the residence through surveillance video. According to police, an order of protection prohibited him from being there. Police also reported having prior contacts involving the man and said he was known to possess firearms, body armor and gas masks.
.
Glendale police responded to the residence and established a perimeter. The man barricaded himself inside the home, resulting in a prolonged police operation involving patrol officers and specialized resources.
.
Police alleged that during the barricade the man fired a rifle from inside the residence toward officers. The gunfire continued intermittently over an extended period, with police reporting that the man fired at law-enforcement personnel for nearly two hours.
.
Police said rounds fired from the residence struck and damaged police vehicles. The man also allegedly fired at police drones being used to observe the residence and assist officers during the barricade.
.
Despite the sustained gunfire attributed to the man, the available accounts do not indicate that Glendale officers returned fire or shot him during the confrontation.
.
Police continued attempting to resolve the barricade while maintaining their perimeter around the residence. The operation lasted for hours before officers were able to obtain information about the man's condition inside the home.
.
Glendale police eventually flew a drone into the residence. The drone located the man unresponsive inside the home with a gunshot wound.
.
Police determined that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. The reporting therefore does not support classifying this death as a fatal police shooting. The man died by suicide while surrounded by police during an active armed barricade.
.
Because the man died by suicide during an ongoing police operation in which officers were actively attempting to apprehend him, the death qualifies for inclusion as suicide under police duress rather than as a person shot and killed by police.

Marcus Maurice Williams
Age :31
Gender :Male
Race : Black
Date : 08/11/2026
Location : Grassdale Suites, 1400 Joe Frank Harris Parkway SE
City : Cartersville
County : Bartow
State : Georgia
Agency : Bartow County Sheriff’s Office
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police after response to reported armed threat
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/11/2026, at about 6:30 a.m., Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the McDonald’s at 1370 Joe Frank Harris Parkway SE after an employee reported that a man had pointed a gun at the employee in the drive-thru. Deputies located 31-year-old Marcus Maurice Williams in the parking lot of the neighboring Grassdale Suites.
The GBI said Williams was holding a gun when a deputy encountered him. According to the GBI, the deputy gave Williams commands, Williams allegedly pointed the gun at the deputy and fired, and the deputy returned fire, shooting Williams. Williams was taken to a hospital, where he died.
A witness staying at Grassdale Suites described hearing two initial gunshots, followed by someone yelling, “Let me see your hands,” and then approximately seven or eight additional shots. Cellphone video showed the aftermath in the motel parking lot. Investigators placed nearly a dozen evidence markers around a Bartow County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, which had a bullet hole in the driver’s-side door.
The GBI is investigating the shooting at the request of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office. Williams’ body was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY
The involved deputy has not been publicly identified. The publicly released account does not establish the precise number or sequence of shots fired by Williams and the deputy. The witness account of two initial shots, a command to show hands, and seven or eight subsequent shots, together with the bullet hole in the deputy’s patrol vehicle and evidence markers at the scene, provides additional physical and eyewitness evidence beyond the initial police account.

Sean Omara
Age :39
Gender :Male
Race : White
Date : 08/11/2026
Location : 10600 Cibola Loop NW, Odyssey Apartments
City : Albuquerque
County : Bernalillo
State : New Mexico
Agency : Albuquerque Police Department
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police during SWAT barricade
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/11/2026, 39-year-old Sean Omara was shot and killed by Albuquerque Police Department SWAT officers at the Odyssey Apartments, 10600 Cibola Loop NW, after an hours-long armed barricade during which police alleged that Omara fired approximately 120 rounds from his apartment.
.
Albuquerque police initially responded to the apartment complex after receiving reports that a resident was firing numerous gunshots. Officers were dispatched to the Odyssey Apartments and attempted to make contact with the person inside the apartment.
.
The situation developed into an armed barricade, and APD SWAT officers and crisis-negotiation resources responded to the complex. Police established a perimeter around the apartment while residents in the surrounding area were exposed to an extended police operation.
.
Police alleged that Omara fired repeatedly from inside his apartment during the incident. Initial reporting estimated that nearly 100 rounds had been fired, while APD's subsequent investigation increased the estimated total to approximately 120 rounds.
.
Police said Omara fired from different locations within the apartment and that gunfire was directed outside the residence during the confrontation. The extensive shooting created a continuing threat to neighboring residents and responding officers.
.
The barricade continued for several hours as APD attempted to resolve the encounter. SWAT officers eventually approached the apartment as the confrontation continued.
.
During the final encounter, Albuquerque police officers opened fire on Omara. Multiple SWAT officers fired their weapons, striking him. Omara died at the scene from the police gunfire. APD publicly identified him two days later as 39-year-old Sean Omara.
.
The available reporting establishes this as a fatal police shooting rather than a suicide or an uncertain gunshot death. ABQ RAW's initial report stated that the barricaded man had been shot and killed by SWAT officers, and APD's subsequent identification confirmed that Omara died as a result of the officers' gunfire.
.
The shooting occurred after a prolonged and unusually high-volume gunfire incident at an occupied apartment complex. Police reported recovering evidence associated with the approximately 120 rounds allegedly fired from Omara's apartment.
.
The identities of the SWAT officers who shot Omara had not been publicly released in the reporting available as of 08/15/2026.
.
The fatal shooting is subject to the standard multi-agency investigation applicable to Albuquerque police uses of deadly force. Further investigative releases should establish the number of SWAT officers who fired, the number of police rounds discharged, Omara's actions at the precise moment officers opened fire, and the body-camera and other video evidence documenting the final encounter.
.
OFFICER BACKGROUND:
The involved officers have not been publicly identified.

Asia Bennett
Age :22
Gender :Female
Race : White
Date : 08/11/2026
Location : Westdale Drive near Pine Bluff Drive
City : Jacksonville
County : Duval
State : Florida
Agency : Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office
Officer(s) : Not disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police during domestic disturbance call
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/11/2026, at approximately 10:45 p.m., a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officer shot and killed Asia Bennett, 22, after officers were dispatched to a reported domestic disturbance involving Bennett and her boyfriend at a residence on Westdale Drive near Pine Bluff Drive in Jacksonville.
.
According to JSO, the first officer arrived and encountered Bennett’s boyfriend outside. Police said the boyfriend reported that he and Bennett had been arguing and that Bennett was inside the residence with a knife.
.
JSO alleged that Bennett then came outside carrying several objects, including a large kitchen knife. Police said the officer ordered Bennett to put down what she was holding. Bennett placed some items on the ground but continued holding the knife. The officer repeatedly ordered her to drop it.
.
JSO alleged that Bennett moved toward the officer while holding the knife. The officer fired one round, striking Bennett and knocking her to the ground. Police alleged that Bennett continued holding the knife, began getting back up and again moved toward the officer. The officer fired a second round.
.
Police said Bennett then dropped the knife. Officers rendered medical aid, and Bennett was transported to a hospital, where she died from the police gunfire.
.
Bennett’s mother, Crissy Duncan, publicly identified her daughter after the shooting and sharply questioned the officer’s use of deadly force. Duncan described Bennett as approximately 110 pounds and said her daughter was a domestic violence victim who needed help rather than police gunfire. Duncan said Bennett had been experiencing domestic abuse and disputed the characterization of her daughter as a threat. News4Jax reported that Duncan said she wanted answers about why police killed her daughter.
.
The shooting remains under investigation. JSO’s officer-shooting records state that police shootings undergo State Attorney’s Office review to determine whether the use of deadly force was legally justified, followed by JSO administrative review concerning department policy and training. As a newly occurring case, those reviews have not yet produced a final disposition.
.
OFFICER BACKGROUND:
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officer who shot Bennett has not been publicly identified in the material currently available.
.

Cause of Death : Suicide
Event : Suicide under police duress during domestic violence barricade
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/10/2026, at approximately 12:29 a.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 4500 block of Pigeon Point Court after a woman called 911 reporting that her boyfriend, Jason Simmons, 48, was chasing her with a blowtorch and attempting to set her on fire. During the call, the woman reported that Simmons had shot her and that her teenage daughter was also inside the residence.
.
When officers entered the house, smoke alarms were sounding and police encountered several small fires that LVMPD alleged Simmons had set. Officers located the woman's teenage daughter in a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound.
.
Officers then approached a locked interior door and attempted to force it open. LVMPD said Simmons fired seven rounds through the closed door. One round struck Officer Zaira Venegas-Hernandez in the chest, penetrating multiple layers of her ballistic vest and causing an abrasion. Venegas-Hernandez returned fire as officers withdrew from the doorway.
.
Police converted the encounter into a barricade response and called SWAT personnel and crisis negotiators. When SWAT subsequently entered the locked room, officers found Simmons dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The available reporting does not indicate that Venegas-Hernandez's return fire struck Simmons.
.
The teenage girl found by the responding officers also died from her gunshot injuries. LVMPD identified her as the daughter of the woman who called 911. The woman's identity and her daughter's identity had not been publicly released in the reporting reviewed. The surviving woman was hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound and burn injuries.
.
LVMPD released 911 audio and body-worn-camera footage on 08/12/2026. The footage documents officers entering the smoke-filled residence, locating the wounded girl, attempting to enter the locked room, the ensuing gunfire, Venegas-Hernandez being struck, and officers withdrawing.
.
OFFICER BACKGROUND:
Zaira Venegas-Hernandez, 36, was identified as the LVMPD officer who exchanged gunfire with Simmons. She has been employed by LVMPD since 2021 and is assigned to the Tourist Safety Division's Spring Valley Area Command. LVMPD placed her on paid administrative leave pending review of the shooting.

Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by off-duty sheriff’s deputy during domestic kidnapping
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/10/2026, off-duty Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Troy Savetz kidnapped and killed his former girlfriend, 39-year-old Mandy Fackler, after confronting her outside her Hudson home as she returned from the beach with her children, ages 9 and 12. Authorities described their on-and-off relationship as tumultuous and said the confrontation began over a television Savetz wanted returned.
Fackler told her children to get inside and call 911, which was captured on the 911 recording; when she attempted to call for help herself, Savetz took her phone, and one of her children called 911 and reported what was happening.
Savetz forced Fackler into a rental vehicle and drove away before deputies arrived at approximately 5:30 p.m. Authorities knew Savetz was an armed law-enforcement officer and tracked the rental vehicle to Platinum Drive in Spring Hill, where at approximately 7 p.m. they found Fackler and Savetz dead inside; investigators determined Savetz had shot and killed Fackler before fatally shooting himself.
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the murder-suicide. The 911 recording captured Fackler directing her children to safety and telling them to call police immediately before Savetz kidnapped her.

County : Monroe
State : New York
Agency : Monroe County Sheriff’s Office
Officer(s) : Deputy Michael J. Burgio; Deputy Scott M. Wolf
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police during mental health crisis
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/09/2026, 68-year-old Lee Murray was shot and killed by Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies Michael J. Burgio and Scott M. Wolf at the Super 8 by Wyndham on Lehigh Station Road in Henrietta, New York, after deputies responded to reports that Murray was suicidal and experiencing a mental health crisis.
.
At approximately 3:53 p.m., the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls concerning a suicidal man at the motel. Deputies responded and encountered Murray, who authorities said was holding a box cutter and apparently attempting to harm himself.
.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies repeatedly ordered Murray to drop the box cutter. Police alleged that Murray did not comply with those commands. Deputies Burgio and Wolf then fired their service weapons, striking Murray.
.
Emergency medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but Murray died at the scene. Authorities reported recovering a box cutter following the shooting.
.
The motel provided investigators with surveillance video that captured the encounter. The publicly available reporting has not established how many rounds Burgio and Wolf fired, the distance between the deputies and Murray when they opened fire, whether Murray moved toward either deputy, or what efforts were made to de-escalate the mental health crisis before deadly force was used.
.
The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation opened an investigation into Murray’s death, as required under New York law for incidents in which a police officer may have caused a person's death. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office also initiated Major Crimes and Internal Affairs investigations.
.
OFFICER BACKGROUND:
Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies Michael J. Burgio and Scott M. Wolf were identified as the two deputies who fired their weapons at Lee Murray. Both were placed on administrative leave following the shooting. No criminal charging determination has yet been announced.

Adolphus Christopher Morris
Age :44
Gender :Male
Race : White
Date : 08/09/2026
Location : Charles Perry Avenue and Girard Avenue
City : Sardis
County : Burke
State : Georgia
Agency : Burke County Sheriff’s Office
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police after pursuit connected to quadruple homicide investigation
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/09/2026, 44-year-old Adolphus Christopher Morris was shot and killed by Burke County Sheriff’s Office deputies in Sardis, Georgia, after a police pursuit connected to the investigation of four people found dead at two residences in Burke County.
The investigation began Sunday evening when Burke County deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive person at a residence on Twin Lakes Road. Deputies found a man and woman dead at the residence. Later that evening, deputies conducted a welfare check at a residence on Tom Bargeron Road, where they found two additional women dead. Authorities said all four people were between approximately 25 and 45 years old.
Burke County investigators identified Morris as a person they believed was connected to the deaths. Chief Deputy Lee Webster acknowledged that investigators had not yet publicly explained what evidence connected Morris to the killings and that investigators were still working to establish whether the deaths at the two residences were connected.
Deputies subsequently located Morris traveling in a red Ford Escape with his grandmother. The initiating reason for the attempted traffic stop was the homicide investigation: deputies were actively seeking Morris because investigators believed he was connected to the four deaths. Deputies spotted the Escape on Veterans Parkway as it approached Georgia Highway 24 and attempted to stop it.
Police reported that Morris continued driving south on Highway 24 toward Sardis while deputies pursued. Deputies ahead of the Escape deployed stop sticks at Charles Perry Avenue. The Escape drove over the stop sticks, deflating its tires, and continued into Sardis before crashing into a tree near the intersection of Charles Perry Avenue and Girard Avenue.
According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Morris exited the crashed Escape and fired at deputies. Deputies returned fire, striking Morris. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Morris's grandmother survived the crash and shooting.
Gunfire during the confrontation also struck the nearby Sardis Public Library, where investigators documented bullet damage to a window.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office requested an independent investigation of the deputies' use of deadly force. The Columbia County use-of-force investigative team was assigned to investigate the shooting. The identities of the Burke County deputies who shot Morris had not been publicly disclosed in the initial reporting.
The shooting occurred amid significant turmoil within the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. Governor Brian Kemp had suspended elected Sheriff Alfonzo Williams from office in July 2026 after Williams was indicted on felony charges in two separate cases. Acting Sheriff Brad Capitosti was leading the department when the Morris shooting and quadruple-death investigation occurred.

City : Beech Island
County : Aiken
State : South Carolina
Agency : Richmond County Sheriff’s Office
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Vehicle
Event : Driver killed by police chase crash
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/09/2026, 39-year-old Jarrett Deuane Danridge of Beech Island was killed after crashing his Cadillac during a police pursuit that began in Richmond County, Georgia, crossed the state line and continued into Aiken County, South Carolina. Contemporary reporting identifies Danridge as the driver and confirms that Richmond County law enforcement initiated the pursuit.
The pursuit began during the overnight hours and continued across county and state lines into South Carolina. Richmond County deputies pursued Danridge into Aiken County, where Aiken County law enforcement also became involved.
The specific reason Richmond County deputies initially attempted to stop Danridge has not been disclosed in the currently available reporting. Because the original basis for the attempted stop has not been publicly established, later allegations that Danridge fled or drove at high speed should not be substituted for the initiating reason for the police encounter.
During the pursuit in Aiken County, Danridge lost control of the Cadillac on Old Jackson Highway near Atomic Road. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed. Danridge was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead following the crash. Reporting describes the collision as a single-vehicle crash.
Danridge had prior encounters with law enforcement involving police pursuits. Records from Columbia County, Georgia, identify him as Jarrett Deuane Danridge and show that he was arrested in December 2022 on a felony fleeing or attempting to elude charge. He was arrested again in March 2023 on allegations including fleeing or attempting to elude, DUI, failure to maintain lane, driving with a suspended or revoked license and an open-container violation.
Earlier 2022 booking records also document an arrest involving allegations of DUI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to obey traffic-control devices and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is responsible for investigating the fatal crash.

Za’Kiyah Dansby
Age :17
Gender :Female
Race : Black
Date : 08/09/2026
Location : Intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Mount Prospect Avenue
City : Newark
County : Essex
State : New Jersey
Agency : Newark Police Department
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Vehicle
Event : Bystander killed in crash under investigation as possible police pursuit
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
REASON FOR CHASE: Unconfirmed. Witnesses and community members allege that the vehicle that struck Zakiyah Dansby was being pursued by Newark police immediately before the fatal crash. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has disputed that account and said the city had not established that police were pursuing the vehicle. The New Jersey Attorney General's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
NARRATIVE:
On 08/09/2026, 17-year-old Zakiyah Dansby was struck and killed by a vehicle at Bloomfield Avenue and Mount Prospect Avenue in Newark while walking home from a neighborhood store. Her death is now under investigation by the New Jersey Attorney General's Office amid allegations that the vehicle that struck her was fleeing from Newark police.
Dansby's family said she had walked to a nearby store and was on her way home when she was killed. Police found her at the intersection shortly before 9 p.m.
The central unresolved issue is whether Newark police were pursuing the vehicle immediately before it struck Dansby. Members of the community have publicly alleged that the fatal collision occurred during a police pursuit. That allegation has not yet been established as fact by the investigating authorities.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka publicly disputed portions of the account circulating after the crash. Baraka said the vehicle involved was not stolen and emphasized that Newark has a restrictive vehicle-pursuit policy permitting pursuits only under limited circumstances involving serious offenses.
The mayor's statement did not resolve the fundamental factual question of whether officers were nevertheless following or pursuing the vehicle before Dansby was struck. Because of the conflicting accounts surrounding possible police involvement, the New Jersey Attorney General's Office took responsibility for investigating the circumstances of her death.
One person subsequently turned himself in and was taken into custody in connection with the crash. As of the initial public reporting, authorities had not announced charges against the driver.
Authorities also had not publicly established why the vehicle was traveling at the speed or in the manner that resulted in Dansby's death, whether Newark police had attempted a traffic stop, whether an officer had activated emergency lights or sirens, how close any police vehicle was to the vehicle that struck Dansby, or whether police had terminated any attempted pursuit before the collision.
Those questions are particularly important in determining whether Dansby's death should ultimately be classified as a police-pursuit fatality rather than an ordinary fatal traffic collision.
Hundreds of people gathered at Bloomfield Avenue and Mount Prospect Avenue on 08/12/2026 to mourn Dansby and demand answers about the circumstances of her death. Family members, friends and community members gathered with pink balloons near the intersection where she was killed.
Dansby's grandmother, Ada Dansby, publicly demanded justice for her granddaughter and expressed anguish that the 17-year-old would never have the opportunity to graduate. Friends remembered Dansby as energetic, happy and someone who brought life to those around her.
The case remains especially important for police-encounter documentation because the publicly available evidence is presently contradictory. Community accounts place a police pursuit immediately before the fatal collision, while Newark officials dispute that characterization. The involvement of the New Jersey Attorney General's Office means the circumstances surrounding possible law-enforcement involvement are now subject to an independent state investigation.
Until that investigation establishes whether police were pursuing or attempting to stop the vehicle, Dansby's death should be retained as a, rather than treated as a confirmed pursuit death.

City : Fairfax
County : Linn
State : Iowa
Agency : Linn County Sheriff’s Office
Officer(s) : Not disclosed
Cause of Death : Vehicle
Event : Driver killed by police chase crash
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/08/2026, 34-year-old Robert Oppenheimer of Olin was killed in a single-vehicle crash while a Linn County Sheriff’s Office deputy pursued him south of Fairfax, Iowa. The pursuit began at approximately 9:13 p.m. near Williams Boulevard and East Southview Road.
.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office reported that a deputy initially attempted to stop Oppenheimer for a traffic violation. Despite searching the available initial and follow-up reporting, the specific traffic violation that prompted the attempted stop has not been publicly disclosed. The available reports describe it only as a “traffic violation,” so no more specific initiating offense can presently be established.
.
Police reported that Oppenheimer continued driving after the deputy attempted the stop, and the deputy pursued him southbound on Lefebure Road. Oppenheimer was driving a 2020 Ford F-150 and was the vehicle’s sole occupant.
.
At approximately 9:17 p.m., about four minutes after the attempted traffic stop began, Oppenheimer reached the T-intersection of Lefebure Road and Wright Brothers Boulevard. According to the Iowa State Patrol crash report, he failed to stop at the stop sign, continued through the intersection and left the roadway. The pickup came to rest in the south ditch.
.
Emergency personnel performed lifesaving measures. Oppenheimer was transported by ambulance and pronounced dead. The Iowa State Patrol crash report stated that Oppenheimer was not wearing a seat belt. Fairfax Fire Department, area ambulance personnel and Lifeguard air medical personnel responded to the crash.

Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police during investigation of shooting
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/08/2026, an unidentified man was shot and killed by five Houston Police Department officers inside the parking garage of an apartment complex at 8820 Westheimer Road in Houston. Another unidentified man was found fatally shot at the scene. The incident began at approximately 11:45 p.m.
.
Houston police were dispatched to a report of a person down with an armed person in the parking garage. Uniformed officers arrived and found one man lying motionless on the ground and another man standing over him with a firearm.
.
According to Houston police, officers repeatedly ordered the armed man to drop the gun. Police alleged that the man did not comply and subsequently raised the gun and pointed it toward officers. Sergeant T. Zhang and Officers J. Maldonado, J. Sanchez, P. Luu and N. Leon then fired their duty weapons, striking the man.
.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced both men dead at the scene. The man found on the ground had suffered gunshot wounds before officers arrived.
.
Importantly, initial police statements did not establish that the man killed by officers was responsible for shooting the other man. ABC13 reported that investigators had not determined or publicly stated whether the armed man killed by police was the person who shot the first man. The circumstances leading to the first man's death therefore remain under investigation.
.
The City of Houston's official update released on 08/10/2026 identified all five officers who fired: Sergeant T. Zhang and Officers J. Maldonado, J. Sanchez, P. Luu and N. Leon. All five were assigned to HPD's Midwest Patrol Division.
.
The identities of both deceased men remained pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences in the latest official HPD release. The incident is recorded by HPD as case number 1005610-26.
.
The Houston Police Department Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit and Internal Affairs Division are investigating the fatal police shooting. The Harris County District Attorney's Office is conducting its own review.
.
OFFICER BACKGROUND
Officer J. Sanchez had previously fired his weapon during another Houston police shooting on 10/27/2025. Sanchez was one of five HPD officers who fired during an encounter with 42-year-old Darwish Wilson at an apartment in the 2400 block of South Loop West. Police alleged Wilson had barricaded himself inside a vacant apartment, set fires and pointed what appeared to be a handgun toward officers through window blinds. Officers fired multiple times, wounding Wilson. Investigators subsequently reported that the weapon recovered inside the apartment was a replica handgun.
.
Officer N. Leon had previously been involved in a fatal Houston police shooting on 03/03/2024 at 14427 Alrover Street. Leon, Sergeant C. Onwuka and Officer E. Datu fired during the encounter. Houston police alleged that the 45-year-old man pointed a pistol toward officers. The man was shot and killed. Leon had been with HPD since August 2021.
.
The prior shootings involving Sanchez and Leon make the 08/08/2026 Westheimer Road shooting at least the second documented police shooting involving each officer.

On 08/08/2026, shortly before 5:30 a.m., Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies and its Special Response Team went to a residence adjacent to Richbourg School in the Crestview area to serve a search warrant, an arrest warrant, and a risk protection order on a 29-year-old man. Escambia County Sheriff’s Office personnel assisted in the operation. The arrest warrant accused the man of discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school and discharging a firearm in a residential neighborhood. Sheriff Eric Aden said deputies sought the risk protection order following what the Sheriff’s Office characterized as escalating behavior involving firearms.
.
According to Aden, the Sheriff’s Office believed before serving the warrants that the man was armed. Police alleged that during the operation the man came out of the residence and fired multiple rounds. Aden said gunfire struck sheriff’s SWAT vehicles, nearby homes, and Richbourg School. The Sheriff’s Office also alleged that earlier in the week the man had displayed a high-powered rifle outside his residence and fired rounds in the neighborhood.
.
Significantly, Aden said the deputies did not return gunfire. Instead, he said the Special Response Team used “SWAT resources” to “disable” the man. Reporting from the scene showed extensive damage, including a large hole in the front of the residence, but authorities have not yet publicly explained precisely what SWAT weapon, vehicle, device, or tactic caused the man’s fatal injuries. Deputies subsequently provided lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the death. Because the Sheriff’s Office specifically states that deputies did not shoot the man, the exact mechanism and medical cause of his death remain important outstanding issues for the FDLE investigation and subsequent medical examiner findings.

County : Bowie
State : Texas
Agency : Hooks Police Department; Bowie County Sheriff’s Office; New Boston Police Department; Texas Department of Public Safety
Officer(s) : Not disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police during response to stabbing
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/08/2026, at approximately 9:33 a.m., Bowie County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to County Road 3103 near U.S. Highway 82 after receiving a report that Kenneth Eugene Jordan, 48, had stabbed one woman and assaulted another at a residence. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the stabbing victim fled to a neighboring residence and Jordan followed her. The homeowner armed himself and held Jordan at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived. The severely injured woman was subsequently flown by helicopter for treatment and was expected to survive.
.
Bowie County deputies responded along with officers from the Hooks Police Department and New Boston Police Department and personnel from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Police alleged that Jordan remained armed with a knife. Deputies used Tasers against Jordan twice without incapacitating him and also used an OC pepper-ball launcher. Local reporting based on police radio traffic indicated that officers gave Jordan commands to drop the knives for approximately 20 minutes.
.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Jordan then turned toward a New Boston Police Department K9 and its handler. A Hooks Police Department officer fired, striking Jordan. Police and emergency personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but Jordan died at the scene. The reported shooting occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m.
.
Justice of the Peace Catie Hawkins ordered an autopsy, and Jordan's body was transported to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. The Texas Rangers are investigating the fatal police shooting, while the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the assaults that preceded the police response.
.
The identification appears to correspond to Kenneth Eugene Jordan II, born 08/08/1978, whose North Carolina appellate record documents convictions arising from a 1998 case for three counts of second-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, and robbery with a dangerous weapon. The date of birth matches Jordan being exactly 48 on the date of his death, and registry-derived records subsequently place a Kenneth Eugene Jordan II with that birth date in the Texarkana, Texas area.

OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/08/2026, 60-year-old Javier Ordonez was shot and killed by Downey Police Department officers at a six-unit residential complex in the 11800 block of Downey Avenue near De Palma Street in Downey, California. Officers had been dispatched at approximately 7:50 a.m. following reports of gunfire at the property.
.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound and subsequently located an adult woman who had also been shot. Both were pronounced dead. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigators subsequently said the three people who died were members of the same family and described the underlying incident as an apparent domestic-violence case.
.
Police identified Ordonez as the armed man they were attempting to locate following the discovery of the two shooting victims. Officers surrounded the six-unit complex while attempting to get Ordonez to come outside. Video recorded at the scene captured police using a loudspeaker to call "Javier" by name and ordering him in Spanish to come outside with his hands raised.
.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Ordonez eventually emerged and approached Downey police officers while armed with a gun. Downey officers then fired at Ordonez, striking him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner subsequently identified the man killed by police as Javier Ordonez, 60. Authorities had not publicly identified the other man and woman killed at the residence in the initial reporting reviewed for this update.

Event : Driver killed in crash after attempted police traffic stop
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/08/2026, 35-year-old Damion Paul Proffit was killed in a single-vehicle crash shortly after Fargo Police Department officers attempted to stop him in north Fargo. At approximately 12:18 a.m., officers attempted the traffic stop while Proffit was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado in the 700 block of Broadway North.
Police specifically initiated the stop because Proffit was a known suspended driver and they suspected he was driving while his license was suspended. Police reported that Proffit accelerated away at a high rate of speed. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Fargo police accounts, officers discontinued the attempted stop and did not pursue the Silverado.
Shortly afterward, a Fargo police officer found the Silverado crashed in the 1500 block of Dakota Drive near North Dakota State University. The Silverado had failed to negotiate a curve, struck a tree and continued between two apartment buildings. Debris from the Silverado struck a parked and unoccupied Honda Element, causing extensive damage.
Proffit died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities reported that he was wearing a seat belt. The North Dakota Highway Patrol took responsibility for investigating the fatal crash.

County : Henderson
State : Texas
Agency : Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office; Henderson County Sheriff's Office; Texas Department of Public Safety
Officer(s) : Not Applicable
Cause of Death : Suicide
Event : Suicide under police duress
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/07/2026, law enforcement officers began searching for 36-year-old Charles Michael Gatteys of Kaufman County after a Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office deputy attempted to stop him while he was riding a motorcycle. Gatteys continued driving away while the deputy pursued him, beginning a pursuit that crossed county lines.
The pursuit continued into Henderson County, where Gatteys eventually abandoned the motorcycle and ran into a wooded rural area. Law enforcement agencies established a perimeter and began an extensive manhunt. Henderson County Sheriff's Office deputies, Texas Department of Public Safety personnel and other law enforcement officers participated in the search.
Authorities searched the area for several hours using multiple law enforcement resources. Residents in the surrounding area were alerted to the police activity while officers attempted to locate Gatteys.
Henderson County Sheriff's Office personnel subsequently located Gatteys dead in the search area. Authorities reported that he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. No law enforcement officer was reported to have fired at Gatteys.
Gatteys had previously been involved in a widely reported police pursuit in North Texas in February 2016. Garland police attempted to stop him while he was riding a motorcycle without a license plate and reportedly swerving. That pursuit traveled through several North Texas cities before Gatteys drove down a drainage ditch in McKinney, fell from the motorcycle and was arrested. Police reported recovering a stolen handgun, methamphetamine and Xanax following that arrest.

Event : Found dead during police barricade after deputy fired at him
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/07/2026, Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a residence in the 10000 block of NC Highway 43 North, between Rocky Mount and Pinetops, to investigate a reported larceny. According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies encountered an armed man after arriving at the residence. Authorities allege that the man aimed a rifle at a deputy, and the deputy fired at him.
The man then retreated into the residence while still carrying the rifle. Deputies took cover outside the house and called additional law enforcement personnel to the scene. Members of the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team subsequently entered the residence and found the man dead inside.
The initial information released by authorities does not say whether the deputy's gunfire struck the man. It also does not state that the man fired the rifle. Authorities have not disclosed how many rounds the deputy fired, where the man was located when the deputy fired, how much time elapsed before the Special Response Team entered the residence, or the medical cause and manner of the man's death. Because the available reporting establishes only that a deputy fired and the man was later found dead inside the residence,
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation. As of 08/08/2026, authorities have not publicly released the man's identity or the name of the deputy who fired.

State : Washington
Agency : Toppenish Police Department

Cause of Death : Vehicle
Event : Driver killed by police chase crash
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/07/2026, an unidentified male driver was killed near Wapato, Washington, after a police pursuit initiated by the Toppenish Police Department ended when his vehicle was struck by a train. The pursuit began in Toppenish and continued toward Wapato before reaching the railroad tracks.
Toppenish police attempted to stop the vehicle before the driver continued driving away while police pursued. The currently available reporting does not disclose the specific offense or conduct that caused Toppenish police to initially attempt the traffic stop. Because the original reason for the attempted stop has not been publicly identified, it should not be replaced with the driver's later decision to drive away from police.
The pursuit traveled from Toppenish toward Wapato. During the pursuit, the driver reached a railroad crossing as a train approached. The vehicle entered the crossing and was struck by the train. The driver was killed in the collision.
The death raises significant questions about the decision to initiate and continue the pursuit because Toppenish Police Department has a written vehicle-pursuit policy requiring officers and supervisors to continually balance the need for immediate apprehension against the danger created by a pursuit.
The department's published policy states that an officer must receive supervisory authorization before initiating a vehicle pursuit. The policy requires officers and supervisors to consider alternatives to pursuit and evaluate whether apprehension is necessary, whether the person presents an imminent threat to others, and whether the danger of allowing the person to escape is greater than the danger created by pursuing the vehicle.
The same policy requires continuing reassessment once a pursuit has begun. It directs officers to terminate a pursuit when the objective circumstances indicate that the risks created by continuing it outweigh the risks resulting from the driver's escape. If a supervisor orders termination, pursuing officers are required to terminate immediately. The policy specifically directs officers and supervisors to continuously weigh the seriousness of the underlying offense against the danger to motorists, police and the public.
The policy also requires pursuit vehicles to use emergency lighting and sirens and requires officers to drive with due regard for the safety of people and property. These provisions make the original reason for the attempted stop, supervisory authorization, pursuit speeds, traffic conditions, duration, distance and circumstances surrounding the railroad crossing important to evaluating the pursuit that preceded this death.
The complete police records should establish which Toppenish officer attempted the initial stop; the specific reason for that stop; the facts communicated to the supervisor before pursuit authorization; which supervisor authorized the pursuit; the time the pursuit began; the route and distance traveled; speeds reached by the pursued and police vehicles; whether additional officers or agencies joined; and whether officers or supervisors discussed terminating the pursuit before the train collision.
Records from the final portion of the pursuit are especially important. Dispatch recordings, body-camera video, patrol-vehicle video, GPS data and radio traffic should establish when officers became aware that the pursuit was approaching railroad tracks, whether the crossing lights or gates had activated, the location and speed of the pursuing police vehicle relative to the pursued vehicle, whether the train was visible or audible to officers, and whether police continued the pursuit through the moments immediately preceding the collision.
Toppenish Police Department's publicly available policy manual therefore provides an unusually useful benchmark for reviewing this death. The department's own written rules require supervisory authorization and continuing risk assessment rather than treating the initial decision to pursue as authorization to continue regardless of changing circumstances.
The driver's identity, age and the names of the pursuing Toppenish officers have not yet been publicly released in the reporting located for this newly reported case. The case should be updated when the Yakima County coroner releases the driver's identity and when police reports, dispatch records or subsequent reporting identify the pursuing officer or officers.

Ugochukwu Ilodigwe
Age :23
Gender :Male
Race : Black
Date : 08/06/2026
Location : Providence Road near South Clifton Avenue and Aldan Avenue
City : Aldan
County : Delaware
State : Pennsylvania
Agency : Aldan Police Department
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police under undisclosed circumstances
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/06/2026, 23-year-old Ugochukwu Ilodigwe was shot and killed by an Aldan Borough Police Department officer near South Clifton Avenue and Aldan Avenue in Aldan, Pennsylvania, after police were called to provide him with a courtesy transport.
.
The encounter began at approximately 3:30 a.m. when Aldan police were dispatched to the area for what Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse later described as a "courtesy transport" — a free ride provided by the police department to a resident. Police were not initially responding to a reported violent crime involving Ilodigwe.
.
Body-camera footage released by the Delaware County District Attorney's Office shows a female Aldan police officer arriving alone and approaching Ilodigwe, who was standing in a grassy area beside the roadway.
.
As the officer approached, Ilodigwe pulled out what District Attorney Rouse described as a meat-cutting knife and swung it toward the officer. The officer moved backward while repeatedly ordering Ilodigwe to drop the knife. The body-camera recording documents the confrontation and provides direct evidence of Ilodigwe's possession and movement of the knife rather than relying solely on the officer's subsequent account.
.
The officer initially attempted to use less-lethal force. She deployed her Taser at Ilodigwe, but it did not stop him. Initial reporting from the scene confirmed that the officer used her Taser before resorting to her firearm.
.
According to the body-camera evidence and the district attorney's review, Ilodigwe continued toward the officer with the knife after the Taser deployment. The officer retreated while continuing to give commands and then fired her handgun at Ilodigwe.
.
Ilodigwe was struck by the officer's gunfire. Emergency personnel responded, but he died from his injuries. The Delaware County Medical Examiner's Office subsequently identified him as 23-year-old Ugochukwu Ilodigwe.
.
The fatal encounter was investigated by Delaware County authorities, including review of the officer's body-worn-camera footage and the circumstances that brought the officer and Ilodigwe together.
.
On 08/14/2026, Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse publicly released the body-camera footage and announced the results of the investigation. Rouse concluded that the officer's use of deadly force was legally justified and that no criminal charges would be filed against her.
.
The released footage is significant because it documents the sequence leading to the shooting: the officer was originally dispatched to provide transportation rather than respond to a violent offense; Ilodigwe produced a large knife as she approached; the officer retreated and issued commands; she deployed a Taser that did not stop the encounter; and she subsequently fired her handgun.
.
The officer who killed Ilodigwe has not been publicly identified. The district attorney's announcement therefore establishes the prosecutorial disposition of the shooting but does not provide the officer's name for the public record.
.

The involved officer has not been publicly identified.

Denzel Molina
Age :16
Gender :Male
Race : Latino/a/e
Date : 08/06/2026
Location : Thompson Lane Self Storage, 2800 block of Landers Avenue
City : Nashville
County : Davidson
State : Tennessee
Agency : Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by federal agents during firearms enforcement operation
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/06/2026, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents conducted a planned federal firearms enforcement operation at Thompson Lane Self Storage in the 2800 block of Landers Avenue in South Nashville. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the operation concerned the suspected sale of unlawful firearms. Metro Nashville Police Department officers were assisting ATF with the operation.
ATF's Special Response Team encountered two people during the operation: 16-year-old Denzel Molina and 32-year-old James Salinas. According to the initial police account, agents approached one of the two men near the rear of the storage facility and that person pulled a gun and fired at the federal agents. An ATF agent returned fire, fatally shooting him. Moments later, police said the second person pointed a gun at another agent, and ATF agents fired before that person fired, also killing him. Investigators reported recovering two guns.
TBI's initial public statement did not identify which of the two — Molina or Salinas — authorities allege fired at agents and which allegedly pointed a firearm. Because the available official information does not establish that distinction, it should not be attributed to Molina without further confirmation. TBI identified Molina and Salinas on 08/07/2026.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is independently investigating the shootings at the request of 20th Judicial District Attorney General Glenn Funk. Investigators are collecting physical evidence and interviewing witnesses, and TBI will submit its findings to Funk for review. TBI does not identify the officers involved in shootings it investigates, and ATF has not publicly identified the agent or agents who fired at Molina in the sources reviewed.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the operation involved the suspected sale of unlawful firearms. Metro Nashville Police Department officers were assisting ATF with the enforcement action.

ATF agents opened fire and killed him before he fired the weapon, according to the police account.
TBI's official release states more generally that gunfire was exchanged during the encounter and both Salinas and Molina were struck and fatally wounded. The agency's 08/07 update identified the two people who died but did not specify which man authorities allege fired at agents and which allegedly pointed a gun. Accordingly, the available official information does not establish which version applies specifically to Salinas.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shootings at the request of 20th Judicial District Attorney General Glenn Funk. TBI investigators are collecting evidence and conducting interviews and will provide their findings to the district attorney for review. The ATF agent or agents who fired at Salinas have not been publicly identified in the sources reviewed.

Enoch Keenan Harville
Age :61
Gender :Male
Race : White
Date : 08/06/2026
Location : Causeway Boulevard, Deerbrook neighborhood
City : Land O' Lakes
County : Pasco
State : Florida
Agency : Pasco County Sheriff's Office
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police during domestic violence call
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/06/2026, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a home on Causeway Boulevard in the Deerbrook neighborhood of Land O' Lakes after receiving a domestic violence call involving a firearm. Deputies encountered an injured woman outside the residence and then entered the home to contact 61-year-old Enoch Harville, who was in a back room.
According to Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco, Harville armed himself with a shotgun while deputies were attempting to speak with him. Deputies backed out of the room and repeatedly ordered Harville to drop the weapon. Nocco said body-camera footage shows Harville coming through a narrow doorway and hallway toward the deputies while carrying the shotgun.
Nocco said Harville then lowered the shotgun and pointed it toward the deputies. Two Pasco County deputies opened fire, striking Harville. Harville died at the scene. The shooting occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m.
The encounter was recorded on deputies' body-worn cameras. However, the Sheriff's Office said the recordings cannot presently be publicly released because the shooting occurred inside a private residence and the footage is restricted under Florida law. The agency said the names of the two deputies who fired would be released Monday, meaning their identities were still not publicly available as of 08/08/2026. Both deputies were placed on paid administrative leave.

Angel Bowers
Age :27
Gender :Male
Race : White
Date : 08/06/2026
Location : Rushing Road, Kathleen area
City : Lakeland
County : Polk
State : Florida
Agency : Polk County Sheriff's Office
Officer(s) : Not Disclosed
Cause of Death : Gunshot
Event : Killed by police during warrant arrest and K-9 search
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/06/2026, Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies went to the Rushing Road area northwest of Lakeland to arrest 27-year-old Angel Bowers on an outstanding warrant after he missed a court appearance. Deputies located Bowers, but he ran into a heavily wooded area, and deputies began searching for him with K-9 Ace.
According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, three deputies and Ace eventually located Bowers deep in the woods. The Sheriff's Office said Bowers opened fire at the deputies. During the exchange of gunfire, Ace was struck in a front leg. Deputies returned fire, striking and killing Bowers. None of the three deputies was struck by gunfire.
Ace was assigned to Deputy Oestreich and was initially reported in critical condition. The dog was transported for emergency veterinary treatment and underwent surgery on 08/07/2026. The damage to his leg was severe enough that veterinarians amputated it. Ace survived the shooting but will be retired from service after six years with the Sheriff's Office.
The 10th Judicial Circuit Officer-Involved Deadly Incident Task Force is investigating Bowers' killing. The reporting reviewed identifies Oestreich as Ace's handler but does not establish that Oestreich was one of the deputies who fired at Bowers. The Sheriff's Office has not yet publicly identified the deputies who fired, so the Officer(s) field remains Not Disclosed pending further release of their names.
