On 03/09/2026, Okeechobee County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on NE 8th Lane. According to authorities, deputies encountered a man outside the home holding a firearm. Police said the man did not follow commands and moved toward deputies, after which deputies opened fire and killed him. Investigators said one gun was recovered at the location.
