OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/12/2026, Milwaukee police and a Wisconsin Department of Corrections agent attempted to contact Jonathan Otto, 35, in the 1900 block of South 12th Street regarding a parole violation. Police said Otto got into a tow truck and began driving away while an officer was holding onto the driver-side window. Authorities said the officer gave commands to stop and warned he would shoot if Otto did not comply. Police said Otto continued driving at high speed for several blocks and the officer opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital and later died. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is investigating with the West Allis Police Department as the lead agency.
