On 03/12/2026, a Fort Worth police officer traveling on U.S. Highway 287 near East Maddox Avenue stopped after seeing a man leaning over a bridge holding a sharp object. Police said the man began cutting his neck with what appeared to be broken glass and then ran toward the officer with it. The officer opened fire and killed him. Authorities said multiple callers had reported a man on the bridge cutting himself before the officer arrived. Highway 287 in both directions was closed during the investigation and later reopened that evening.
