On 03/14/2026, Clinton Township police attempted a traffic stop after spotting a vehicle traveling at excessive speed on southbound Gratiot Avenue near Quinn Road. Police activated emergency lights and sirens, and the driver accelerated and continued driving. Police chased the vehicle until it crashed into another car at Gratiot Avenue and 14 Mile Road around 2:30 a.m., killing a 25-year-old Southfield man and another occupant who had not yet been formally identified. Police took the 54-year-old Sterling Heights driver into custody. Authorities said Roseville police are investigating the crash.
