OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/13/2026, Traverse City police responded around 4:45 p.m. to the 400 block of Munson Place for a reported domestic assault involving a knife. Police entered the apartment and found a 50-year-old man lying on the living room floor. Police said when officers announced their presence, the man stood up holding a knife and moved toward them. Officers gave verbal commands and deployed a Taser, which police said was ineffective. Officers then opened fire, killing him. Authorities said a woman injured in the domestic assault was taken to Munson Medical Center. Michigan State Police are conducting the investigation.
