OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/02/2026, Albuquerque police responded to reports of a man running through traffic lanes on Interstate 40 who appeared to be hallucinating. Officers located Dyonte Layne Lindsey on the highway and said he had a pocket knife in his hand. Police ordered him to comply, then deployed Tasers and forced him to the ground. Officers detained Lindsey and said he resisted while they attempted to handcuff him. After police restrained him, Lindsey showed signs of medical distress. He was hospitalized and died one to two days later. Authorities opened an investigation into the death.
