OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 03/19/2026, Galveston police responded to a reported shooting at a residence in the 21800 block of Lampasas Drive and found a man bleeding on the front porch. As officers arrived, a suspect drove away in a pickup truck. Officers attempted a traffic stop and then escalated a pursuit along FM 3005 with assistance from Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and a helicopter. Officers deployed stop sticks before the vehicle left the roadway and crashed near Jamaica Beach. Officers approached the vehicle and found the driver with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he died. A second person at the residence was also transported with injuries.
