On 03/14/2026, a Sherman County deputy attempted a traffic stop near Biggs Junction. The driver, Devon Brown, continued driving and deputies escalated a pursuit eastbound on Interstate 84 that spanned multiple counties. During the chase, he drove erratically at speeds exceeding 100 mph and avoided spike strips deployed by deputies. He exited the interstate near the Blalock Canyon interchange and drove onto a paved section of an unmaintained road. Deputies boxed in the vehicle and issued commands for him to exit. Before deputies could approach, he shot himself inside the vehicle. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot.
