On 03/21/2026, a Kentucky State Police trooper observed a gray Chevrolet Camaro speeding on Interstate 64 near the 128 mile marker and attempted a traffic stop. The driver continued driving and officers escalated a pursuit. The vehicle exited onto KY 801 and continued at high speed. Troopers briefly lost sight of the vehicle but later located it again and initiated a second pursuit. As the vehicle approached the intersection of KY 801 and KY 519, the driver lost control, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole. The vehicle caught fire and became fully engulfed. Troopers attempted to remove the driver but were unable to reach him. Donovan Kyle Porter, 30, of Olive Hill, was pronounced dead.
