On 03/19/2026, Longmont Police Department officers responded around 4:15 p.m. to a report of a suicidal woman at a home in the 1500 block of East Third Avenue. Officers made initial contact and began leaving when she fired a gun from inside the garage. Officers returned and attempted to negotiate with her, urging her to come out without a weapon. After a period of negotiation, she exited the garage holding a firearm. Officers opened fire, striking her. She was transported to a hospital, where she died. Authorities recovered a firearm at the residence.
