On 03/22/2026, Sandy police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 8800 block of Shady Meadow Drive. Officers attempted to speak with a man inside the home, and an altercation occurred. Police said the man pulled a weapon from his lower leg and moved toward officers. Two officers opened fire, striking him multiple times. He was transported to a hospital and later died from gunshot wounds.
