On 03/09/2026, Pasco County deputies responded to a report of a man threatening neighbors near Davista Avenue and Sawtell Street in New Port Richey. Deputies were directed to Aaron Rodriguez, 32. Police reported he fired a gun, injuring a deputy. Deputies returned fire and shot him. He died from gunshot wounds. Body camera video later showed deputies firing after the reported exchange of gunfire.
