On 03/23/2026, Conroe police responded to a shooting at a Bank of America ATM on North Frazier Street where a Brinks security guard was shot and money boxes were taken. Officers gathered information and used tracking data from the stolen money to locate the suspect vehicle traveling north on Interstate 45. Multiple agencies coordinated and conducted a felony stop in the 4500 block of I-45. The driver refused commands while surrounded by officers and shot himself inside the vehicle. He died from the gunshot wound. The injured security guard was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive. Authorities recovered the stolen money.
