Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Civil Unit arrived at a residence in the 17400 block of Sequoia Street around 7:56 a.m. to conduct a lockout and remove residents after a previously issued notice to vacate. Deputies knocked on the door and received no response. As a maintenance worker unlocked the residence, deputies heard a muffled noise from inside the home. Deputies entered and located Christopher Eiselstein suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead. Investigators said they did not find anything suspicious and believe the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division is handling the investigation.

A 63 year old woman called 911 and reported that her husband, Kevin LaPage, was chasing her on Highway 1 near Elmwood while driving a separate pickup truck.
