On 03/25/2026, Fruitland Park police responded to a crash where a truck had struck a home on E Mirror Lake Drive. Officers encountered Duane Holston walking away from the crash holding a hatchet. Officers gave commands to stop. During the encounter, Holston reached toward a firearm, and officers opened fire and shot him. He was transported to a hospital where he died.
