On 03/22/2026, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle driving the wrong way on Glendale Avenue. The driver did not stop and continued driving, and police pursued the vehicle. During the pursuit, the officer ran a red light and collided with a pickup truck at 56th Avenue. The driver being pursued continued and crashed into another vehicle near the 5100 block of West Glendale Avenue. Eva Puente Ravelo, a passenger in that vehicle, died from crash-related injuries. Four others were injured, including the officer.
