OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/29/2026, officers responded to reports of a woman pointing a rifle at homes in a Hutchinson neighborhood. Officers located Cassondra M. Scott in the street. After officers made contact with her, she pointed the rifle in the direction of officers and an officer fired multiple times, striking her. She was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a Wichita hospital, where she died from her injuries. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation.
