On 03/31/2026, officers with the Anaheim Police Department observed a vehicle driving erratically near Harbor Boulevard and Cypress Street and attempted to catch up to conduct a traffic stop. The driver turned off the vehicle’s lights and accelerated away. Officers followed the vehicle through city streets. Moments later, the driver ran a red light at Lincoln Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard and crashed into multiple vehicles. Alberto Viveros Piedra, who was driving a Toyota Camry, was struck during the collision and died. Family members reported he was driving home from work when the crash occurred.
