OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 03/30/2026, deputies with the Will County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported home invasion at a residence on the 200 block of Romayne Avenue in Joliet. A man entered the home and remained inside while a resident stayed barricaded. Deputies surrounded the residence and established a standoff that lasted several hours. During the standoff, the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities have not released his identity.
