On 04/01/2026, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of a man threatening to harm himself inside a home in the 1400 block of South Downey Road. Deputies made contact at the residence. The man exited the home holding what deputies identified as a handgun. Deputies opened fire and killed him. Deputies later determined the weapon fired blanks.
