On 04/02/2026, New York Police Department officers arrived at an apartment at 105 Willis Avenue in the Bronx to arrest Lucien Colon on active bench and parole warrants. Officers entered the apartment after a woman opened the door and found Colon in a bedroom holding what appeared to be a gun. Officers gave repeated commands for him to show his hands and come out of the room. Colon responded that he had a gun and refused to comply. After approximately 90 seconds of verbal interaction, officers opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital, where he died. A firearm was recovered at the apartment.
