On 03/30/2026, Monroeville Police Department officers responded to a domestic-related call involving Ammarin Tunstall. When officers approached, Tunstall ran into a wooded area. Officers pursued and took him into custody. Witnesses reported officers used pepper spray and a Taser multiple times before dragging him from the woods and placing him face down in a patrol vehicle. Police stated he was alert and talking but refused to walk. After arriving at the Monroe County Detention Facility, Tunstall became unresponsive. Emergency services were called, and he was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating.
