On 04/09/2026, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies and firefighters responded to an early morning structure fire at a residence in Cleburne. During the response, Jeffrey Scott Davis fired a gun, striking and injuring a deputy. Law enforcement officers returned fire, striking him. He was pronounced dead. The injured deputy was transported for treatment. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
