On 04/10/2026, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of South Pepper Drive in Bakersfield. The man left the area, and a pursuit followed for several minutes before it was discontinued due to driving conditions. His vehicle was later found after a crash on eastbound Highway 58, east of Weedpatch Highway. Deputies arrived and attempted to make contact. During that contact, a deputy-involved shooting occurred, and he was shot and killed. A person with a gunshot wound connected to the initial incident was transported to a hospital.
