On 04/10/2026, Rushville Police Department officers and Rush County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of East 5th Street. Reports indicated shots had been fired inside the residence. Officers encountered a man holding a firearm and gave commands for him to drop it. He did not comply. Officers opened fire, striking him. He died at the location. A woman sustained a non-life-threatening injury during the incident.
