On 04/13/2026, U.S. Border Patrol agents attempted to stop a vehicle near Brownsville that they believed was involved in human smuggling. The driver did not stop, and agents escalated a pursuit. During the pursuit, the vehicle rolled over on FM 511. One person was killed in the crash and four others were injured and transported to a hospital.
