On 04/12/2026, Lafayette Police Department officers responded around 12:15 a.m. to a report of an intoxicated man pointing a gun at another person on Stillwell Street. Officers located the man and gave commands for him to drop the gun. Police reported he did not comply with repeated commands. Officers opened fire, striking him. He died following the shooting.
