OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/12/2026, Dothan Police Department officers responded to reports of a man with a gun threatening people near an apartment complex on South Saint Andrews Street. Officers traced the man, identified as Antonio Christopher King, to a residence in the 100 block of East Lafayette Street. As officers attempted to make contact, shots were fired from inside the residence. Officers opened fire. King barricaded himself inside, and a standoff continued for several hours while negotiators attempted to communicate with him. During the standoff, additional shots were fired from the residence. King later exited and fired again at officers. Officers opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital, where he died.
