On 04/13/2026, Milwaukee Police Department officers investigated a homicide that occurred earlier in the day near South 7th Street and West Mitchell Street. Officers later located a vehicle believed to be connected to that homicide and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Nicholas Maslowski, continued driving, leading officers on a pursuit. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed near the South 35th Street viaduct and West National Avenue. After the crash, Maslowski exited the vehicle and fired at officers. Multiple officers opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital, where he died. Eight officers discharged their weapons. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is conducting the investigation.
