On 04/13/2026, Brookshire Police Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations. The driver did not stop. Police chased the vehicle at a high rate of speed into the City of Katy, where Katy Police Department officers joined the pursuit. The vehicle stopped in an area south of Interstate 10 and FM 1463. The man exited the vehicle and ran on foot with a gun. Officers opened fire during an exchange of gunfire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital where he died.
