OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/14/2026, police received an alert for a stolen vehicle reported out of Hollister. Gilroy Police Department officers located the vehicle, but it left the city before a stop was initiated. Morgan Hill Police Department officers later attempted to stop the vehicle on Monterey Road. The driver did not stop. Police chased the vehicle through multiple streets. During the pursuit, the vehicle crashed into a tree and a dumpster, continued driving, then ran a red light at Monterey Road and Leavesley Road. The vehicle struck a center median and a light pole and overturned, ejecting all three occupants. Two occupants were killed and a third was airlifted to a hospital with critical injuries.
