On 04/13/2026, Rapid City Police Department officers responded to reports of a man firing a gun in the area of East Boulevard North. Officers located the man and attempted to make contact. Police reported he had a gun and did not comply with commands. Officers opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital where he died. The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shooting.
