Event : Motorcycle driver killed by police chase crash

On 04/15/2026 at approximately 2:10 a.m., a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling on South Carolina Highway 31 after observing a traffic violation. The rider, later identified as Kegan Morrison, 22, of Longs, did not stop and continued riding away while the trooper pursued.
The pursuit continued southbound toward the Myrtle Beach area before leaving Highway 31 and entering Robert Grissom Parkway. Investigators reported that Morrison continued at a high rate of speed as the pursuit approached the intersection of Robert Grissom Parkway and 38th Avenue. During the pursuit, Morrison lost control of the motorcycle and crashed.
Troopers and emergency medical personnel responded immediately after the crash. Morrison sustained catastrophic injuries and died at the scene. No other vehicles were reported to have been involved in the collision, and no additional injuries were reported.
