OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/17/2026, officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle near Covington Highway and Panola Road. The driver did not stop, and a chase followed. While traveling on Covington Highway near Miller Road, the vehicle lost control, crossed into oncoming lanes, left the roadway, and struck two people who were walking. Antionette Catchings, 56, was killed. A 14-year-old boy, identified as her grandson, was seriously injured. The driver and a passenger were taken into custody after attempting to run away. A firearm was later found at the crash location.
