On 04/19/2026, officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded to reports of multiple shootings at residences on West 79th Street and Harrison Street. Police determined that a man shot multiple victims at two locations during a domestic incident. Eight children between the ages of 3 and 11 were killed. Two adult women were also shot and injured. Police identified the man as Shamar Elkins. After the shootings, he carjacked a vehicle and fled the area. Police chased him into Bossier City, where officers opened fire and killed him.
